Lost Episode 4.11 - "Cabin Fever" Easter Eggs, Screencaps, and Audio

*** UPDATE (5/12/08) ***
There has been some interest in the items that Jack pulls out of the backpack at the end of the episode. Here is a screencap of a map that was in there. There are two versions of the map on this screencap, from two consecutive frames. In one frame the text is easier to read, in the other the islands are easier to make out.

There is also a book that Jack pulls out of the backpack. Probably not much here, but thought people might be interested.  Here's a look: Screencap

Finally, some people have mentioned that there was a new LOST "logo" at the end of the promo for next week. Sorry to rain on the parade, but it is the same one they have been using all season. On the left is the screencap from the promo after "Cabin Fever". On the right is a screencap from the Season 4 trailer, which came out back in January.

Original post:

Great episode tonight!  For me, it ranks just below The Constant and The Shape of Things to Come in terms of Season 4 episodes.  I think what I liked most was the variety of cool stuff.  There wasn't any one thing that blew me away more than anything else, but the episode was packed full of great material, including the return of two awesome supporting characters in Matthew Abaddon and Richard Alpert.  We got a heavy dose of mythology with Locke's past, his dream with Horace, and the cabin.  We got more action on the freighter, including continued malfeasance by Keamy.  The cabin scene was awesome, with Claire actually being a bit spooky.

Here are our nominees for Cabin Fever's clip of the week:

Some of our favorite Easter Eggs and screencaps are found below:

Emily Locke's room appeared at first as though it might be loaded with clues, but nothing really stood out.  I did, however, have this odd thought flash through my mind that perhaps Ben and Locke could be brothers.  I haven't put much research and analysis into it, it was just a fleeting thought.

I did, however, love how she stood out in front of the car that drilled her.

Ageless wonder Richard Alpert shows up for Locke's birth.
Screencap

Alpert shows up again, this a few years later when Locke is a young boy. Locke demonstrates his interest in Backgammon and then proceeds to choose which of Alpert's items belong to him already based on a "lineup", but not before Alpert notices a drawing young Locke made which appears to be of the Smoke Monster.

Here are Alpert's items, beginning with a baseball glove:

The Book of Laws:Screencap

A tube with what appear to be grains of sand. Are they from the Island?
Screencap

A comic book with an eery cover. Is this a hint as to the magic nature of the Island? Plus, a fairly crude knife, which Locke claims to Alpert's chagrin.

A compass similar to one used by Locke on the Island:

A now high school-aged Locke gets locked (pun intended?) in a locker, where he is bailed out, leaving us a surprise in his locker (Geronimo Jackson album art courtesy of Lostpedia).  The man pictured behind the album art is Richard Francis Burton, an English explorer, translator, writer, soldier, orientalist, ethnologist, linguist, poet, hypnotist, fencer and diplomat:

Locke also gets a pamphlet from Mittelos Laboratories (a la Mittelos Bioscience from Ep. 3.07 Not in Portland)Screencap

Desmond wants no piece of the island as 3 years has been plenty.  He just wants to get to Penny.

Keamy is rigged with what appears to be some type of detonation or trigger device. Apparently he'll need it in an attempt to carry out the Secondary Protocol, which Keamy found in a Widmore-provided Dharma binder (and the presumed Orchid logo):

Locke's dream with Horace provides guidance on getting directions to the cabin:

Matthew Abaddon returns and is brilliant as usual in his scene with Locke:

The cabin scene was spectacular. Locke had to go it alone now that Ben felt replaced, which allowed a classic moment between Ben and Hurley with the Apollo bar:

Christian was stellar again in demonstrating his significance in the overall story of the Island and Claire was actually a bit scary. She had a sinister smile and seemed eerily relaxed and at home ("I'm with him"...WTF?). It was just plain creepy...

Here are a few more audio clips from the episode that weren't quite COW worthy, but we still found interesting.

And I couldn't resist throwing this little gem in here...get some sleep big guy. You've got a big week coming up.

Did anyone notice that the bars/dashes around the orchid symbol, on the binder Keamy is holding, do NOT match the one found on the jacket that Ben is wearing? The orchid symbol match but not the rest of it. I wonder what those bar/dashes mean.

I think there is something to those bars and dashes... there has to be some sort of code going on there. each station symbol has a different configuration of bars and dashes. What does it all mean? AAAAAAaaaaaaahhhhh!

Also, I previously posted on the blog spot from something nice back home about the emily locke and emily linus possible connection....I just watched the very first scene from the man behind the curtain again and it is not a complete hit, but the two scenes have much in common...especially the mother pleading that the son be named something specific... now i have to put this to rest because it has been annoying me...but if it is the same emily i do not believe john and ben would have the same father....i think Roger, ben's dad was a grown up, later relationship and trusty anthony cooper was just dating a much younger girl (and probably brainwashing her)...

The test that Alpert gives young lock is very similar to the test they give to find the new Dalai Lama. The test is to let the person (who is the reincarnation) select things they owned in their past life.

In May 2007, it was announced that Lost would continue for its fourth, fifth, and sixth seasons, concluding with the 117th produced episode in May 2010. I would like to see a different perspective in the story, time to change direction.
