Impressions:
Following last week's wicked good episode, there was bound to be a let down this week...and guess what...there was. Not even Kate wearing only undies and an Oxford could save this episode from mediocrity (although that would definitely equate to Something Nice Back Home in my book). It wasn't that this episode was bad, it just wasn't at the level of last week's, which is probably fine. There may be a bit of a lull leading up to what will no doubt be another awesome finale.
Good things in the episode included Rose putting Charlotte in her place, Dan putting Charlotte in her place, the aforementioned Kate in her undies, the return of Christian Shephard (although this confusing storyline just got more confusing), Miles' "conversation" with Rousseau and Karl, the Star Wars shout out with the Millenium Falcon Jack steps on, Sawyer continuing to be a leader and kick ass, and Claire's mysterious disappearance with dear old Dad.
Bad things in the episode included Sun and Jin's boring storyline (Sun is guaranteed a spot on the helicopter because Jin said so? Come on), Jack's surgery storyline (duh...he's not going to die...we've seen him in the future), the lack of fan faves Desmond and Ben (and perhaps even Locke), and the overall lack of action (which probably would've been fine if there were mythology answers, but there weren't...just more questions).
I thought that while Jack's proposal to Kate was a nice little scene, it was kind of out of left field and lacked the emotional impact it could have had given a better setup. But, hey, I'm sure the Jaters didn't care. They were crackin' the champagne and jumping on the message boards to taunt the Skaters. Jack may have gotten the girl, but there's no doubt that Sawyer has been the one stepping up lately. First he saves Claire, now Aaron. As for Jack? He can't even save himself.

I love the new Get Lost Cow format, thats awesome. It makes it much easier to vote... for Rose telling off Charlotte. But Daniel was pretty good too. I wouldn't want to be stuck on a bus with her never mind an island.

The lost fans are great, but... sometimes you guys make too much out of the Prop Master just doing his job. Job: "make a newspaper that has a headline to upset Jack about the Red Sox". While the game mentioned in the main article took place in Sept 07- the Angels- Astros score below is from a game that took place on June 20th, 2007. I think we can say this is not an accurate assessment of the timeline- just the Prop Master making up a dummy newspaper.

Couldn't disagree more about this weeks episode. I thought it was one of the best this season.
Also, for a lost fan you seemed to be ignoring some pretty important things.
Charlotte could take Sun off the island for any number of reasons (including to save her life), but the fact that mob-enforcer-Jin will break Daniel's fingers one-by-one if she doesn't is a good reason too.
You also completely missed the point of the Jacks surgery (which was not about whether he would live). The surgery subplot served to explore the Juliet/Kate/Jack love triangle, culminating in a great post surgery scene with the three of them.
Also, the fact that Jack got sick on the island AT ALL is yet another mystery (as Rose pointed out).
Anyway, love the show and love your site keep up the good work.

That's a very good question.
I just checked, and yes he does. It's very difficult to see, and some slo-moing was required, but it is there.

I think you miss the biggest point which comes at the ending, serving as an accumulation of several events in the flash forward perspective.
We understand the order of events:
1. X amount of people get off the island
2. Hurley attempts to kill himself
2. Kate has court case
3. Jack and Kate get together
4. Jack starts addiction & seeing things
5. Jack and Kate split
6. Jack wishes to go back to island; full blown addiction; somebody important has died
Furthermore, we know for sure that there are those who chose to stay back at the island.
Again, I thought we got two delicious episodes in a row. Different style but just as fulfilling.

I just wish people who know nothing of what they speak, would stop putting down anything to do with Jin and Sun. Their story and what they are doing in this series is extremely interesting and as far as I am concerned, important to the over all story. There is nothing boring about their story. It is a very good part of the over all story. LOST would not be the same without the two of them. Eric, I think you are just prejudiced against Koreans. They add a lot to this story. However, if you think you can do better at writing a story for television, have at it. I want to see what kind of incredible mind blowing action packed exciting every minute series you come up with. Like my dad used to say, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. I think the latter part of that saying would be the best thing for you to do. You remind me of all the so called genius film critics. They can put down the best pictures ever put on the big screen, but they never end up making any kind of movie to show every one how it's done. In other words, you have no right to put down any part of this show. If you didn't like it, you should have just kept your BIG self important mouth shut.

While we welcome your feedback, your assertion that we are prejudiced towards Koreans is unfounded, uncalled for, and ridiculous. A great part of the Lost community is that fans can posit theories and carry on debates regarding their favorite characters, story lines, etc. We're glad you enjoy Jin, Sun, and their story. That doesn't mean everyone else is going to. Currently, we find several of the other story lines more compelling than Sun and Jin's and there's nothing wrong with that. We will, however, make a prediction that will definitely re-kindle our interest in Sun and Jin and their story. With the revelation that Charlotte speaks Korean, we're guessing that she's somehow involved with Mr. Paik, Sun's father, and that he, along with Sun (and Jin if he proves to still be alive) will play a larger part in the overall story arc. If this theory materializes, we're sure it will prove to be compelling and we'll be first in line to welcome it.

I seemed to have personally offended you, and for that I apologize. I didn't realize that expressing the interest level I had in a television character's current storyline made me a racist. For the record, I am not prejudiced against Koreans, or any other race for that matter. And I don't recall ever saying that I thought I could write a better show than LOST. Maybe you should have stuck to your dad's advice. I welcome your opinion on the show and our blog, but I don't feel our comments justified your attack. For what it's worth, this episode is the second lowest rated of the season behind The Other Woman (according to DarkUFO's polls, which I feel are a good gauge of popular opinion on the show), so I'm not alone. That being said, I love LOST. I wouldn't spend the time to do a blog and podcast on it if I didn't. Your welcome to your opinion and I'm welcome to mine. We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one.

Is it just me or could it possibly be Aaron in the casket. I know it looks large for a small child, but with the way this show works, it could be possible??? Am I way off base? Jack is the only one "related" to him as he pointed out in this episode (though he may or may not know it). It seems Claire did not make it off the island and something may have happened to Kate (went back for Sawyer maybe?) Just a thought.

Also, Kate is disgusted by Jack mentioning the idea of her going. Why would she be disgusted with a kid that she's raised?

I think that Kate goes back for Sawyer when Jack (due to his addiction) screws up somehow causing Aaron to die.

If so, why would Kate say that she didn't want to go to the funeral? Aaron's supposed to be her son...
I think what Kate was doing for Sawyer has something to do with Cassidy and Clementine; which means that before the O6 are rescued, Sawyer and Kate figure out they were connected before the crash.

The newspaper article about the red sox isn't an insignificant prop. It's actually a real article. You can put the title into google and a lot of articles pop up.

Not sure if it has any significance, but we try to post screencaps of anything that may be of interest to viewers. Since that tattoo hadn't been seen before (except for briefly in the pilot, according to Lostpedia), we thought it was worth showing.

what is that tattoo? an 'R' 'arrowhead '8'? or 'B'? or '&' ??? I seem to remember Jack playing a piano- are those musical symbols? something asian (like his other tattoo's?) or ??? Rose/Bernard tribute? (wild shot in the dark probably)

to me, it's "K 8",so we have "keight" so you read it as "KATE"

i've got it I've got it!!!!!! I think,really, those letters are a K and a B, his sons names first letter, and in the center we have two M, one for mtthew and one for his wife, who's got a name which first letter is M!!!! who does agree????

hey, i was just thinking that if I remember correctly ben's mother, emily, who died after giving birth to him, also said something along the lines of MAKE SURE HIS NAME IS BENJAMIN....since many of us think it is the same emily, then if I remember correctly, this could be a confirmation because when locke was born she said MAKE SURE HIS NAME IS JOHN.... hmmmmm....what do you think??

I thought that may have been a hint as well. I share the same theory that perhaps Ben and John are brothers (at least half brothers). I mentioned that in our Cabin Fever post. I haven't done a ton of analysis on it, but the whole scenario just kind of clicked when I was watching Cabin Fever.

Hmmm na sorry dude...Anthony Cooper is Locke Dad and Roger (Workman) Lionus is Ben's Dad. Their Mothers may have shared the same name in Emily, but Ben's Mother died during labour and Lockes birth Mother tracks him down when he's in his 30's. So their not birth related.
Still there are some consistancies in how they were born: both premature and both left by their birth Mother (in one way or another). Yes it was similar with the 'name him Ben' & 'call him John' but I don't think it goes any further than that....

Hi,
I'm just watching this episode in NZ -and I've just noticed that the appearance of Christian also triggered the smoke alarm....is this the smoke monster taking the human form? It brings back memories of Yemi from season 2 -Echo called him 'brother' and (Smoke) Yemi replies 'I am not your Brother'. Also in this scene Yemi is covered in what appears to be white ash -could this also be the same ash surrounding the cabin? I've heard that in buddism -monks are cremated after death and are pressed in into images of Buddha (usually in the to be worn as a necklace in a golden case) Seeing as the word Dharma derives from Buddism -could it be a stretch to say that this is related????
Would love to hear any comments on this topic....
