**UPDATED** Lost Episode 4.08 - "Meet Kevin Johnson" Easter Eggs and Screencaps

Update 26-Mar-2008: Added Kurt Vonnegut reference on the game show Michael was watching before attempting to blow his brains out, whispers audio heard just before Michael attempts to trigger the bomb, and dream vs. reality pictures of Michael's hospital room.

When Michael is preparing to shoot himself, we see a game show on the TV.  If you listen carefully, you can hear a reference to Kurt Vonnegut's "Slaughterhouse Five".  This book is where the phrase "unstuck in time" came from (which we heard in Ep. 4.05 "The Constant") and it deals with time travel.  Here's a sound clip:

Now that we're on hiatus, check out the book:

Some people have been interested in discrepancies between Michael's dream in the hospital and once he wakes up.  Here's a screencap collage with a few comparisons:

When Michael approaches the suitcase with the bomb to trigger it, we hear "Better Everyday" again and a brief set of whispers.  The whispers are difficult to draw any definitive conclusions from.  All we could hear is what appears like a male voice first and then a female voice.  Here's the clip so you can judge for yourself:

It was fitting that, just in time for Easter, there were plenty of Easter Eggs in Episode 4.08 "Meet Kevin Johnson".  We finally found out what Michael was up to since he left the island at the end of Season 2.  We also got more story from Team Locke.

Ben produces a map to the Temple, which is where the Others went at the end of Season 3.  Check out the new DHARMA logo for the Temple (which I thought was strange because why would an ancient temple be a DHARMA station?), which appears to look like a horizon.  In keeping with the whole time travel element, I came up with a wild theory.  Could the horizon logo represent an Event Horizon?  From Wikipedia:

In general relativity, an event horizon is a boundary in spacetime, an area surrounding a black hole, beyond which events cannot affect an outside observer. Light emitted from inside the horizon can never reach the observer, and anything that passes through the horizon from the observer's side is never seen again.  Is this area labeled the temple and sanctuary because it is the spot where some kind of portal can transport people too and from the island, causing it to take on a religious persona?  Just a wild thought.

The map looks very similar to Dan and Charlotte's map to the Tempest, but they are different.  Here's a comparison:

For those interested, here's a shot of the patient monitor Michael was hooked up to:

Here's a shot of the actual monitor from a medical supply site:

Next, we see a gentleman lying in the hospital bed next to Michael. It sure does seem to look like Alvar Hanso, don't you think?

Next we get the return of Libby in Michael's dream / vision. It's too difficult to read her badge other than Manhattan at the top:

Here's another shot of Libby from a different vision Michael has. In this one, she's wearing the green shirt that she died in.

We also get to see taller ghost Walt, who is none too happy with Michael:

The watch that got Michael's butt kicked by Jin in Season 1 is pawned by Michael to enable him to blow his brains out, if only the island would let him. Here's a shot of the back of the watch with Korean text:

Michael runs into Mr. Friendly in an alley, who's been keeping watch over him. Because Michael can't kill himself, as was suggested by Mr. Friendly to Michael, Michael seeks out Mr. Friendly at the Hotel Earle:

We get a confirmation that Mr. Friendly is indeed gay, as hinted to by his line last season to Kate, "You're not my type."

Mr. Friendly shows Michael info in support of his assertion that Charles Widmore staged the crash of Oceanic 815. First, here'a picture of a cemetery where the bodies were allegedly exhumed. Also, if you look closely at the bottom right corner of the screen, you'll see what appears to be a seating chart of the plane:
Widmore's file

Next, we see the Purchase Order for the 777 (to Widmore Industries; I thought they said it was to a "shadow company"?), which was a cool $450,000.  The document behind and to the left of the PO is a Port document (perhaps the Shipping Logs that Mr. Friendly mentions).

Mr. Friendly convinces Michael to go to the freighter as a mole. Michael is given his new alias, Kevin Johnson. Here's a look at his passport. The interesting thing is that some of the data is the same as on Ben's fake Switzerland passport with Dean Moriarty as an alias.

Lastly, here's a shot of the port in Fiji (Port of Suva).

Also, here's Kevin's care package:

I believe the text on the right that you're having trouble making out says "Barracks".

The interesting thing about the heart monitor- is it changed between shots! from an older tech to a newer one. We also saw an xmas tree appear behind the 2nd nurse, will have to watch it again to see if its the same other patient in both shots.
It would appear that the shot with nurse Libby was a memory (she was wearing regular nurse attire)from his previous car accident(anyone remember anything about that- where? what injuries?). Libby on the freighter would be a hallucination/appiration.

Just looking at the maps, cant make out what that word is- but notice what they are both missing? atleast in these shots- would be interesting to see any others out there..... where is the direction indicator? ie North/South/East/West??????? i know these are crude maps- but wouldnt that be something basic you would put on a map??? or is this a subtle admission that the electromagnetic properties make compass' useless- and possibly using stars/sun for direction also a suspect endevour???

See the Christmas tree? More confirmation of time travel of some sort. If you didn't notice it it defiantly makes it so there is at least a year difference on and off island.
